Vasco da Gama or Vasco as it is popularly known is a city in State of Goa. The city was named after famous Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. The city is located 30 km from the capital of Goa Panjim. The city was formed by Portuguese in 1543 and remained part of Portugal till 1961 until India annexed Goa. Vasco da Gama is known for its beaches Bogmalo Beach being the most famous one.

St. Andrew’s Church: The St. Andrew Church is situated at the very entrance of the Vasco city. Earlier it was constructed in 1570 AD. But it was reconstructed in 1594 AD.

Bogmalo Beach: Bogmalo Beach is undoubtedly clean, unexplored and a secluded amongst the best beaches of Goa. This beach is also well known for offering some lip smacking Goan dishes.

Issorcim Beach: This beach is a peaceful and smaller beach as compared to the other beaches of the Goa. It has a flat surface that is favourable for water activities.

Japanese Garden: It stands on the site where once Fortaleza Santa Catarina stood and the ravaged walls of the place still make their way through the garden. The garden offers a breath taking view of the Arabian Sea and the islands standing amid the sea.

By Bus- Vasco da Gama has good road connectivity to the major cities of Goa. Buses are operated by Kadamba Bus Terminus and other private bus services at regular intervals.

By Train- Most trains coming to Goa, including the Konkan railway, chug by Vasco’s railway station at Dr Rajendra Prasad Avenue. From the station you can take a taxi, bus, auto rickshaw or hire a car to get to your destination.
