Khandala is also a popular hill station in the Western Ghats of the state Maharashtra, located around 3km from Lonavala. It is situated at an altitude of about 625 meters at the edge of the magnificent Sahyadris surrounded by scenic grassy hills, enchanting valleys and beautiful lakes. In 1871, Lord Elphinstone, who was the Governor of Bombay Presidency discovered the both places -Lonavala and Khandala. Khandala as a beautiful hill station has witnessed many rise and the fall of several kingdoms even the colonial power of European countries. It is said that Chattrapati Shivaji, the founder of the first Maratha Empire, ruled the area around Khandala. Later it came under the Peshwa rulers who founded the second Maratha Empire. Khandala is a tourist utopia blessed with splendorous scenery. It also provides a popular gateway from the hustle and bustle of cities of Mumbai and Pune. Travelers throng this place to escape the hectic city lifestyle. There are several tourist attractions that promises a lot more fun than just the alluring panoramic views of the hill station. The Karla Hills and the Duke's Nose Peak are perfect destination for adventure tour like -rappelling and rock-climbing.  Other tourist destination such as The Rajmachi Fort, Lohgarh Fort, Tunga Fort and the Manoranjan Fort are some breathtaking brilliances of the past.

  • Tamhini Ghat: It is a mountain passage located between Mulshi and Tamhini in the state of Maharashtra. It is surroundings by scenic waterfalls, lakes and dense woods. A ride through this ghat is good even during the summer. But, this place opens in the rains. it is not advised to go through Tamhini ghat late in the evenings.
  • Kune Waterfalls, Khandala: Kune Waterfalls is one of the 14th highest waterfall in India, situated between Lonavala and Khandala.  It provides a majestic view and an enjoyable opportunity to bathe in the water that flows through the valley. The best time to visit Kune Falls is during the monsoon season.
  • Amrutanjan Point, Khandala: Amrutanjan point is at the starting point of the Khandala Ghat.  located high up in Khandala. It is considered as one the most popular scenic spots from where tourist can get a paranomic viewpoint of the Duke’s Nose. It is abundant with natural beauty and pristine surroundings.
  • Duke's Nose, Khandala: Duke's Nose, also known as 'Nagfani', that means Cobra Head. It is a popular place for trekking, valley crossing, rock climbing & rappelling. Best place for adventure tour. It is strongly advised that the activity is not to be undertaken without expert monitoring & guidance.
  • Rajmachi, Khandala: Rajmachi is a small village that consists of two forts, namely Shrivardhan fort and Manaranjan Fort. It is a fortified tourist destination in Khandala. Rajmanchi Fort is a popular trekking destination. Apart from trekking it is also favourable for bike trek ride. Rajmachi Fort has been declared as a protected monument. During the First Anglo-Maratha War, this fort played an important role in the war.
  • Bhushi Lake, Khandala: Bhushi Lake situated in Khandala is the ideal spot for all travellers. It is a peaceful location and a good picnic spot. The crystal-clear water provides immense opportunities for the tourists to rest in peace. This place is one of the favourite place for the local among the locals and tourists alike.
