Kolhapur has a beautiful cultural history dated back to 17th Century. Nested in the tranquil laps of the Sahyadri mountain ranges this city is one of the oldest civilizations of the country, situated at the banks of River Panchganga. Because of its spiritual history, Kolhapur is renowned as a holy place. This destination is also known as Dakshin Kashi. Kolhapur was founded by Chhatrapati Tarabai, under the reign of Chhatrapati’s of Kolhapur. In the ancient time, it is a major city in the state of Maharashtra.
