Nizamabad is a popular district known for its rich heritage site. This is a place where one can find the glorious history of the Nizams who once ruled this place Nizamabad surrounded by beautiful lakes and rivers. It is blessed by mother nature. It is the third largest city in the state of Telangana. This city is also known as Indhooru and Indhrapuri. The name Nizamabad means “Long Live the Nizam”, that has been derived from the Nizam of Hyderabad Asaf Jahi, VI. He ruled Deccan during the 18th century AD. It is also referred as “The City of Nizams”. Originally, Naizamabad was called Indur named after the king Indradatta. It is said that during the 5th century, he seemed to have flourished it this region. Previously, it was the part of the state Andhra Pradesh and then it came under the state of Telangana by Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. Tourism plays a vital role in this region that attracts a lot of tourist from all over India. Nizamabad is blessed with a historical touch as well for the famous Nizamabad fort. This place has illuminated rocks and has excellent boating facilities where one can go for trekking and water sports. Apart from this it is a hub center for education in Telangana.

  • Nizamabad Fort, Nizamabad: Nizamabad Fort is one of the most important tourist attraction in the city of Nizamabad. It is located at a distance of 3km from Nizamabad. This Marvellous fort has great historical significance that reminds of ancient era. This ancient fort was built by the Rashtrakuta kings who was once the ruler of this region. As time passes, the fort went through few changes. It offers an excellent panoramic view of the of the Nizamabad city from the top. Interesting places to see here are - a jail, a mosque and a Rama temple.
  • Ashok Sagar Lake, Nizamabad: Ashok Sagar Lake is another popular tourist interesting place in Nizamabad. It is located at a distance of 9km from the city. This beautiful lake is also known as Jankampet Lake. It has a huge reservoir with beautiful Rock garden, octagonal shaped restaurant, swinging bridge, boating facilities and children's park. Best place for nature lovers.  
  • Sri Neelakanteshwara Temple, Nizamabad: Sri Neelakantheshwara Temple is an ancient temple which is about 500 years old in Nizamabad city. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva famous for its stunning architecture. This temple is named as Neelatheshwar due to blue throat of Lord Shiva. It represents the great nagara architecture. Famous for its stunning architecture, this temple attracts a large number of devotees from all over India.
  • Sarangapur Hanuman Temple, Nizamabad:  Sarangapur Hanuman Temple is another important pilgrimage site that is located at a distance of 7km from Nizamabad. It is believed that visiting this temple gives immense mental and physical strength to the devotees. This foundation stone of this shrine was laid by Saint Samartha Ramadas on the top of the hill. This temple is visited by numerous devotees. Lord Hanuman Jayanti and Ramanavami festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm.
  • Ali Sagar Dam, Nizamabad: Ali Sagar Dam and Reservoir is a popular picnic spot located at a distance of 13km from the Nizamabad city. This dam was constructed in 1931 by Nizams of Hyderabad. There is a garden near the reservoir popular for its fountains, deer park, and a flower garden. The reservoir was established in 1985 rich in scenic beauty. Boating facility is available inside the Ali Sagar Lake.
  • Khilla Ramalayam - Dichpally, Nizamabad:  Khilla Ramalayam – Dichpally is one of the ancient temples in Nizamabad located at a distance of 19km from Nizamabad. This ancient temple was built by the Kakatiya kings in the 14th century. This temple is dedicated to Lord Rama who is said to be the next incarnation of Vishnu. Here, in this temple the vimana of the sanctrum is missing.  It is set as one of the finest examples of stone architecture which exhibits wonderful carvings of goddesses, animals on the wall which attract large number of visitors from all over India.
