Pune is the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra, located in the Sahayadri Hills. During the British period, Pune was spelled as Poona. Literally Pune means “virtue” leads as ‘veritable heartland’ of Maharashtra. It was once the center of the Maratha Empire established by Shivaji Maharaj. The history of Pune can be traced back to 1000 years. This is the city that occupies a significant position in the chapter of Indian History. Some history can be seen on the wall of any monuments and temples. Pune is also known as "Oxford of the East". It is one of the fastest growing cities in the Asia-Pacific region.   • Aga Khan Palace, Pune: Aga Khan Palace is one of the biggest landmarks in Indian history. This palace was built by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in 1892. It is considered to be one of the greatest marvels of India. It is declared the place as a monument of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India in 2003.
  • OSHO Ashram, Pune: OSHO Ashram is one of the amazing place for people. People visiting to this place has different experience on their individual karma. It calms the restless mind, seek inner peace and meditate in tranquillity. This is one of the world's largest meditation hall.
  • Khadagwasala, Pune: Khadagwasala is a beautiful place where Khadagwasala Dam is situated on the Mutha River. Khadakwasla Lake attracts a lot of tourist visiting this place. It is the largest lake which is the main source of water for Pune and its suburbs. Many people come here on weekends and during the monsoon season. It is a best place for picnic spot.
  • Shaniwar Wada, Pune: Shaniwar Wada is a great heritage palace in Pune. It is one of the most visited historical places in Maharashtra. In 1736, Bajirao Peshwa built the Shaniwar Wada. Tourist can still get a view of the leftover plinths, the fortification walls with five gateways. This was designed to be protected from the enemy.
  • Pataleshwar Cave Temple, Pune: Pataleshwar cave Temple has been pride of the Pune. It is considered to be built in the Rashtrakuta period. This temple dates back to around 8th century. Literally Pataleshwar means Lord of the Underworld. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to myths, it is believed that the caves here have been carved by the Pandavas from the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
  • The Ganapati Temple, Pune: The Ganapati Temple is also known as Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple. It is a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha (son of Lord Shiva and Parvati). This temple is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. Festivals are held in the [remises of this temple. Ganeshotsav festival is one of the most important festival that is celebrated in this temple.
  • Parvati Hill and Temple, Pune: It is one of the popular tourist visiting places in Pune and the favorite relaxation spots for the residents of Pune. These temples were built by the Peshwas. This Parvati hill is 2100 feet above sea level and 260 feet from the city level. Visitors visiting this hill can view the spectacular sunrise and sunset viewpoint from the top of the hill. There are total 103 steps to reach the hilltop.
  • Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, Pune: This museum is a must watch for all travelers as well as history seekers, situated at Bajirao Road and consists of art and crafts collected by late Shri Dinkar Kelkar. The museum now holds over 20,000 objects mostly from the 18th and 19th centuries.
