Dandeli is a picturesque city that is located on the banks of Kali River surrounded by dense deciduous forests. As the water looks black in color, the name of the river comes from the dark black rocks that are present beneath the flowing water. It is believed that the name Dandeli derives its name after a person known as Dandelappa. Dandeli is in the Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka which is located in the Western Ghats. It offers the tourist opportunities to experience adventure sports in pristine locations. Dandeli is famous for wildlife tourism. Apart from this, Dandeli is also famous for Dandeli Wildlife. It is the second largest wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka Sanctuary declared as a tiger reserve in the year 2007. This temple is dedicated to Dandelappa shrine. It is said that he was a loyal servant of the Mirashi landlords, who lost his life because of his loyalty. The temple lies abounds with natural beauty.
  • Kavala Caves, Dandeli: It is a historical cave that has religious significance. This temple is related with the great Hindu Epic, The Mahabharata. To reach the temple one has to take more than 350 steps. It is the best place for trekkers and Jungle lovers.  One can spot some animals while trek to caves.
  • Sri Mallikarjuna Temple, Dandeli: Sri Mallikarjuna Temple is one of the oldest temples in the state of Karnataka. It is an amazing dome that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is said that in 1144, Kadamba King Jayakeshi had donated some lands to this temple. Thousands of devotees come here to worship Lord Shiva.
  • Supa Dam, Dandeli: Supa Dam is another tourist attraction place is built across the Kali River in state of Karnataka. Electricity is generated from this dam and supplied to different parts of Karnataka. The construction of the dam was started in the year 1974 and ended in 1987. It was built by Hindustan Steel Works Construction Limited (HSCL) and is now operated by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited.
