Sakleshpur is a beautiful hill station in the state of Karnataka mostly preferred by different travelers. It is well-known as the “poor man’s ooty”. The name Sakleshpur has been taken from Shakala that is a Sanskrit word which means "Bhinnavada" or "Birukada". It is believed that a Shivlinga was found in the past and the linga was called as Shakaleshwara. Later, the town was also called as Sakaleshapura. At the entrance of the town, a temple was also built that is one of the most famous temples in Sakleshpur. It is said to be over 500 years old. Many devotees come here to visit this temple.
