Gandhinagar city is an administrative centre and capital city of the state Gujarat located on the banks of the River Sabarmati. It is one of the most important cities in Gujarat. It is situated at approx. 32 kms from the city Ahmedabad. Gandhinagar was the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi. The name Gandhinagar has got its name from our Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The city was established around 1960. This place has got great importance during the struggle for the nation's independence. Gandhinagar is also known as a Knowledge Corridor. Many educational institutes have sprung which provide knowledge in different fields. It is also famous for "Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple".

Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, Gandhinagar: It is one of the largest temple complexes and an architectural marvel that is in the heart of the city Gandhinagar. It was built in the year between 1979 -1992 built by Pramukh Swami Maharaj and BAPS. This temple is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan. This magnificent temple promotes spirituality, art, devotion, education, research and architecture. It has three permanent exhibition halls - Sat-Chit-Anand, Sahajanand, and Nityanand.
