Surat is a beautiful city that was formerly known as Suryapur. The city is also known as ‘City of Sun’ and ‘Beautiful Port’. In the year of 2013, Surat was awarded the “best city” of India by Annual Survey of India's City-Systems (ASICS). It is one of the 4th fastest growing cities in the world. It has a great historical and cultural heritage. As the city of Surat is mentioned in our great epic of Mahabharata, it takes us back to epic age where it is believed that Lord Krishna halt here while he was travelling from Mathura to Dwarka.  Surat was a great trading center if we go through the glimpse of Indian history. During the sixteenth century the city Surat reached the highest point of prosperity. This city has become home to over 5,000 diamond manufacturing units and well-known as the world’s largest diamond manufacturing centre. Beside this there are also many tourist places of interest and one of the best cities to spend your holidays.

  • Dumas Beach, Surat: Dumas Beach in Surat is believed to be one of the top ten most haunted places in India.  For several years, this beach has been used as a burial ground making it a most tourist visiting place though it is known by very few people. It is actually a village that is approx. 19 kms away from the city Surat. The beach remains silent and it is surely a scary place at night.
  • Goppi Talab, Surat: Goppi Talab is a big artificial lake that is a major attraction of tourist in Surat. The name was taken after the name of Gopi.   • Jagdish Chandra Bose Aquarium, Surat: It is the first multidisciplinary underwater aquarium in India.   • ISKON Temple, Surat: ISKON Temple in Surat is a Hindu temple that is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is well-maintained by the ISKON team. This temple is one of the replicas of ISKON temple. The main temple of ISKON is in Krishnagar, West Bengal, India. It is a spiritual place in material world. It is a famous temple that resides near Tapi River. It is a great place for meditation and enjoy prayer and feel very relax.
  • Science Centre, Surat: It is an excellent center for varieties of events. There is a museum named Sardar Patel Museum, an art gallery that is located opposite to the Museum, an auditorium which is used for seminars, lectures and meetings, an amphi-theatre and a planetarium. The museum depicts the tradition and culture of India. It is a Fun Science Gallery which shows science exhibits.

  • Chintanamani Jain Temple, Surat: Chaintamani Jain temple is 400 years old ancient temple built by Emperor Aurangzeb in the year 1699. It is situated on the bank of river Tapi. This painting on the temple depicts the Jain monk Acharya Hemachandra and Kumarpal, the Solanki king. It is well-maintained by the temple teams. It is one of the best religious and pilgrimage places in Surat mostly visited by Jain community.   • Surat Castle, Surat: Surat Castle is one of the ancient monuments of 16th century in Surat and was built between 1540 and 1546 by Khudawand Khan. It is also known as “Erstwhile Seat of British Empire”. Historical lovers must visit this place as it is a historic landmark lying on the bank of River Tapi.
