Vadodara is the third largest cities in the state of Gujarat. Originally it is known as 'Vadapadraka' that means a village amidst the banyan trees. Formerly this city was called as Baroda. Baroda is situated on banks of River Vishwamitri. Vishwamitra was a Great Saint/Rishi and the name Baroda derived after his name. It is also considered as the state's cultural capital. Vadodara has welcomed a wide variety of tourists from all over the world.  Vadodara is one of India’s most cosmopolitan cities. Vadodara is a great city and being there is an experience, beyond description in words. Vadodara is a graceful city where there are many attractive and magnificent historical monuments, palaces, temples and museums. The city is also famous for its cultural heritage preserved carefully and at the same time adopted the most modern and complicated lifestyle.

  • Ajwa Nimeta Dam and Garden, Vadodara: This garden is also called as Vrindavan Garden. Its main aim was to provide water to the residents of Vadodara. It is a best tourist destination that is located just 29kms from city. In the evening it is very famous especially for its colored fountains and a musical fountain.
  • Lakshmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara: Lakshmi Vilas Palace is one of beautiful Palace in the state of Gujarat. It was completed in the year 1890 built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III. It is an Indo-Saracenic Revival architectural style. This palace has some remarkable and great collection of vintage arts and weapons, marble & terracotta. There is a huge Darbar Hall inside the palace where one can meet and celebrate many concerts and other cultural events.  
  • The EME Temple, Vadodara: This temple is also known as Dakshinamurty Temple made from aluminum sheets. It is a Shiva temple run by Indian army. The temple has army style architecture. It is a unique temple that depicts five different religions – Hindu, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism and Jainism making it a main tourist attraction place.
  • Nazarbaug Palace, Vadodara: Nazarbaug Palace is also known as Nazar Bagh Palace located near Mandvi Gate.  It was the royal palace of Gaekwad and is the oldest palace in the city of Vadodara. This palace was built in the year 1721. It is another oldest temple that has unique concept and structure that has three stores.
  • Kirti Stambh, Vadodara: Kirti Stambh is also known as Tower of Fame/Triumph. It is one of the most popular landmarks in the city of Vadodara. It was built in the year 1935. It was built to mark 60 years of rule of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III.
  • Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, Vadodara: Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery was founded by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad in the year 1887 and completed in 1894. It is located at Sayajibaug. The place has some beautiful paintings of European painters which are marvelous.
