Bandhavgarh is in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh spread at vindhya hills. Bandhavgarh is famous for the Bandhavgarh National Park. In 1968, it was declared as a national park. There is an interesting story behind the name Bhandhavgarh. It was said that Lord Rama asked his brother Laxmana to keep watch on Lanka (now Sri Lanka) from the top of the hillocks. Hence, the name of the park derives its name from the hillock of the area of Umaria and named as Bhandhavgarh (Sanskrit it means Brother’s Fort). History of Bandhavgarh traced back to the 1st century. It has one of the highest density of world renowned Bengal Tigers. Inside the national park there is a "Bandhavgarh fort" thought to be some 2,000 years old. Apart from this, there are also numerous caves containing shrines and ancient’s Sanskrit inscription and forts around the park. It is an unspoilt national park consists of variety of wildlife like gaur (Indian bison), leopard, sambhar and spotted deer, tigers and so on. Tourist can have a close view of all majestic creatures with jeep safari and elephant safari.

  • Bandhavgarh National Park, Bandhavgarh: Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the wild life sanctuaries in the Indian state Madhya Pradesh. It derived its very name from an ancient fort in the area. Renowned for world famous Bengal tigers. There are about 46 to 52 tigers one can spot here. It was declared as a national park in 1968. Tourist can have a close view of all majestic creatures with jeep safari and elephant safari.
  • Bandhavgarh Fort, Bandhavgarh: Bandhavgarh Fort is located on the Bandhavgarh hill. It is also surrounded by many smaller hills separated by gently sloping valleys. This fort is around 2,000 years old as there is no proper record to show when Bandhavgarh fort was constructed.  Bandhavgarh Fort was constructed by rulers of the Gond Empire.
  • The Baghel Museum, Bandhavgarh: It is a famous museum where tourist can see some personal belongings of the Maharaja of Rewa. The museum showcases artifacts which are direct proofs of the affluent lifestyle of the rulers of Baghel dynasty. It is a Beautiful and amazing collection of information.
