Khajuraho is famous for Heritage tourist destination. Khajuraho falls under the Chhatarpur District of the state Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the most popular tourist spots in Madhya Pradesh where maximum people from all over India as well as from abroad comes here to visit this place. This place is renowned for many ancient temples and the sculpture and architecture that are depicted on the walls of the temples are most significant, royalty and erotic art. The Erotic Sculptures of the Khajuraho Temples is a catalogue of Desire. These temples were built between 950-1050 AD by the Chandela Dynasty. Because of its fine sculptures and exceptional architectural skill, Khajuraho has become one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India. These temples belong to the Hindus as well as the Jain religion. After being neglected for centuries, Khajuraho temples were rediscovered in the 1850’s. Originally there were total 85 temples, out of which only 20 have survived due to ravages of time.

  • Khajuraho Temples, Khajuraho: Khajuraho temples has become one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India. These temples belong to the Hindus as well as the Jain religion.   • Lakshmana Temple, Khajuraho: Lakshmana Temple is the largest temples in Khajuraho amongst others. The temple was constructed between 930 AD. and 950 AD. The temple walls are filled with carvings of idols of Hindu gods, erotic sculptures and animals. Tourist can never tire watching the outstanding work of artistry.
  • Ajaigarh Fort, Khajuraho: Ajaigarh Fort is a large isolated hilltop fort stands at an altitude of 1,111 meters and is listed among the top attractions of the region. This fort is noted for its rich historical past and architectural beauty, which speaks volumes about the Chandela dynasty.
  • Raneh Falls, Khajuraho: Raneh Waterfalls is located 20 km away from Khajuraho Group Temples. It is in Chhatarpur district of the state Madhya Pradesh. It is a natural water fall on the Ken River. You can take a canyon view point which is formed due to old volcano and has 5 different colors of rock structure.
  • Archaeological Museum, Khajuraho: This is an open-air museum which was known as Jardine Museum. The Archaeological Survey of India took over and renamed it as the Archaeological Museum in the year 1952. And in the year 1967, the present museum was established making use of the representative collection of Khajuraho sculptures from the open-air museum.
  • Beni Sagar Dam, Khajuraho: This dam is a brief respite for those suffering from temple overload. It is first emerging as a wonderful picnic spot for tourists visiting Khajuraho. This is one of the magnificent spot in the locality. Tourists can visit here for safe swimming and angling.
  • Jain Museum, Khajuraho: These temples are part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many Jain inscriptions from the Chandela period can be seen at Khajuraho where it is mentions Chandella Dhanga as the reigning king.
