Bilaspur is a city located in Chhattisgarh. Bilaspur is one of the largest cities in state ranking second just after its capital Raipur. Bilaspur is cultural and tourist hub in Chhattisgarh. Historically part of Kalchuri dynasty, the city rose to its prominence during Maratha Empire. Bilaspur is known as rice bowl of India as it is known for known for its aromatic Doobraj rice. It is also known for Kosa silk sarees. Bilaspur is also known for Achanakmar Wildlife sanctuary and Tiger Reserve which is very popular among tourists. Bilaspur is also filled with various archaeological sites and temples and attract a lot of tourists globally. Some places of interest around Bilaspur are:  Malhar, known for ancient temples around its vicinity such as Pataleshwar temple, Devri temple and Dindeshwari temple; Kanan Pendari Zoo, and Mahamaya Temple in Ratanpur.

Main Attractions
  • Talagaon, Bilaaspur:  It is a small village located on the banks of Maniyari River, is located at 30 km from Bilaspur City. This village gained popularity after the excavation of the Deorani-Jethani Temple. This mandir is more than 1500 years old and houses a statue of Rudrashiv, which is still in excellent condition.
  • Malhar, Bilaspur: It is a small town of archaeological importance, is located in the Bilaspur District, just 30 km away from Bilaspur City. It was once an important centre during the Kalchuri regime. A museum has been setup by the Archaeological Department to display the artefacts that have been excavated.
