Janigir-Champa is a district in Chhattisgarh. The district is located in middle of Chhattisgarh and sometimes referred as ‘Heart of Chhattisgarh’. Earlier part of Bilaspur district, Janjgir-Champa became separate district back in 1998. The region was once ruled by Kalachuri dynasty. As the name suggests there Janjgir-Champa have two important towns namely Jajgir and Champa. Whilst Janjgir is upcoming industrial town, Champa is known for traditional artworks such as gold and brass metal works and Kosa Silk. The district is known for Vishnu Temple which was built by Jajwly Kalchuri King Bhima Dev in 11th Century AD. Some other area of interest in the district are Laxmaneshwar Temple, Adbhar, Nahariya Baba Temple, Durga Devi Mandir, Shivarinarayan Temple, Chandrahasini Temple etc.

Main Attractions
  • Adbhar, Janjgir–Champa: It is one of the important pilgrimages of Chhattisgarh, the Adbhar Ashtbhuji, is a very ancient religious site which is dedicated to a female deity known as Goddess Devi, an eight-armed Goddess.
  • Damudhara, Janjgir-Champa: It can be considered as an aesthetic picnic location is the Damudhara. The specialty of this place is that, it has most of the features required for a good picnic spot such as waterfalls, caves and temples like the Ram-Janki temple, Radha-Krishna Shrine, Rishavdev Temple and more.
  • Dewar Ghata, Janjgir-Champa: It is a scenic site at the union of three rivers which are the Mahanadi, the Lilagar and the Shivnath. Visitors can come here along with their family and friends and enjoy the panoramic view of this nature.
  • Pithampur, Janjgir-Champa: It is also known as the Kaleshwarnath Mandir located on the banks of River Hasdeo. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The main attraction of this temple is the annual celebration of the marriage ceremony of Lord Shiva, wherein the visitors can also see Naga Saints taking part.
  • Vishnu Mandir, Janjgir-Champa: The temple bears beautiful sculptures of male and female deities, along with demi-gods, known as the Gandharavas and the Kinners, which prove to be a delight to the visitors. The temple is locally renowned as the Nakata Mandir.
  • Ghatadai Temple: Dedicated to Tripur Sundar Devi, Ghatadai Temple is one of the most popular temple of this region. The temple is surrounded by mountains and forests, which offers the amazing view.
  • Laxmaneshwar Temple: It is one of the renowned temple of this region. It believed that the temple was built by the Laxman, younger brother of lord Ram. The temple is dedicated to lord Shiva.
  • Madanpurgarh Devi Mandir: Situated on the banks of the River Hasdeo and is considered one of the popular religious sites of Chhattisgarh. It is known for its architecture. The temple is surrounded by forest.
