Bardhaman is one of the major cities of West Bengal. It is also known as Burdwan. This city is believed to be 5000 years old and was named after the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, Vardhaman Swami or Lord Mahavira. It has many tourist places and it might take one day to one month to explore the whole city. But on can cover the major tourist destinations of Bardhaman if they have minimum 2 days of time therefore making it a perfect weekend getaway. 

Main Attractions
  • The Shrine of Sarvamangala: It is one of the most prominent religious place of Bardhaman as it contains the remain of Sati’s body part the Umbilicus.
  • The Curzon Gate: Fort It was built by Raja Bijoy Chanda Mahatab to welcome Lord Curzon in the year 1903.
  • The Golapbag: Golapbag which means garden of rose is one of the famous tourist place of Bardhaman built by Raja Bijoy Chand Mahatab in the year 1884. It has various types of mango, casuarina, eucalyptus and other trees.  
  • Rajbati: It was built by Mahtab Chand Bahadur in the year 1851, and is the administrative office of the Bardhaman University.
  • 108 Shiv Mandir: This temple was built by Rani Bishnukumari (Queen of Bardhaman) in the year 1788. It got its name as there are really 108 small shiv temples constructed side by side.
