Arrah is the major city of Bihar, located in Bhojpur district. Situated at 54.3 kms from Patna, the capital city of the state near the confluence of the Ganges and Sone rivers.  It is the most historical city, which had played the significant role in the struggle for freedom of India during the British period as the city was associated with Veer Kuer Singh, one of the stalwarts of 1857 rebellion, which was the first war of Indian independence. Previously known as Aranya Kshetra, has a glorious past and has many historical sites and temples.

Main Attractions
  • Jagdishpur Fort, Arrah: Situated 15 km from Arrah, on National High way 34 is the Jagdishpur sub-divisional town which is known for being the birth place of VeerKuer Singh. Every year on April 24, the Bihar government organizes a function here to celebrate 'Vijayotsava' in memory of Kuer Singh's victory over the Britishers in 1857.
  • Arnyadevi Temple, Arrah: It situated at Gopali Chauk, and 2kms away from the arrah railway station, it is an old and famous temple of Goddess Shakti.
  • Chandwa, Arrah: It is about 2kms west from Arrah town is the birth place of former deputy prime minister of India, Babu Jagjiwan Ram. There's a 'samadhisthal' of the great leader here.
