Jamui is one of the major city of Bihar in India, which was established as a district on 21 February 1991. In ancient time it was known as Jambhiyaagram. The city is having mythological and historical significance in Jainism. It believed that lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankar, got spiritual wisdom here, which was located on the bank of river named Ujjihuvaliya.  It is said to be the town was associated with Mahabharata period. Jamui was also liked with other great dynasties as well such as Gupta, Pala and Chandel rulers.

Main Attractions
  • Chandrashekhar Singh Sangrahalya, Jamui: The Sangrahalya was named after the Chandrashekhar Singh and was founded on 16th March 1983. Chandrashekhar was a renowned member of Indian National Congress and served as Bihar’s Chief Minister from 1983.-85.
  • Patneshwar Mandir, Jamui: It is one of the famous temples in Jamui. Legends told that the temple was once residence of Ghoswami Family, one day Ghoswami saw something shinning in woods on closer look he found it was a Shivling.
  • Jain Mandir, Jamui: It is known as the biggest rest house for the Jain Pilgrims. One can always visit this place as it is on the way to Kshatriya Gram Kund which is also one of the biggest tourist destinations of Jamui districts. It lays 20kms west of Jamui District in the Sikandra Block.
  • Hazrat Khan Gaji Dargah, Jamui: It is situated in Amrath Shareef near Jamui.
  • Kshatriya Kund Gram, Jamui: It is revered and esteemed for being the birth place of 24th Teerthankar of Jain religion – Lord Mahavira. Here, one of the major places to visit is Mahavira Temple.
  • Kumar Gram, Jamui: It is in Sikandra Block; and a pilgrimage for both Hindu as well as Jain. It harbours an ancient Devi Temple also known as Netula Than.
  • Kali Mandir, Jamui: The temple is situated close to Jamui Railway Station. The place is mainly known for the big fair that takes place here which is also called as kali mela.
  • Minto Tower, Jamui: The tower holds a historical importance in modern Indian history and makes the center of Gidhaur city. You will find the tower easily whenever you are passing to Jamui and Jhajha state highway.
