Deogarh is a district located in Jharkhand state. Deogarh is known for its temples which can be seen from its name which means house of gods. Deogarh was once a part of Santhal Pargana before it was established as a separate district in 1983. The most famous temple of the lot is Baidyanath Jyotirlinga shrine which is one of the twelve most important jyotirlings in the country and draws lakhs of tourist throughout the year. Apart from that Deoghar is known for Saawan Mela which is conducted in the Hindi month of Shrawan. Deogarh is filled with temples and there are 100s of prominent temples throughout the city some of the prominent ones Naulakha Temple, Nav Durga Temple, Baidyanath Temple and various Jain temples.

Main Attractions
  • Baidyanath Temple: Also called as “Baidyanath Dham”, Baidyanath Temple is one of the most important pilgrimage for Hindus. It is dedicated to lord Shiva and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. As per Hindu mythology, the demon king Ravana worshipped Lord Shiva here. The temple is located at the distance of about 2.6kms from the main town of Deoghar.
  • Naulakha Temple: Located on the outskirts of Deogarh, Naulakha Temple is another major shrine of the town. The temple is dedicated to Radha-Krishna. The temple is renowned for its beautiful architecture which is like Ramakrishna Math Belur Kolkata.
  • Tapovan: Situated at the distance about 8kms away from the main town, Tapovan is one of the renowned tourist attraction of Deoghar. It is known for ‘Pahari Temples’, which were used as a meditation place for Rishis and Munies since ancient time, hence it is called as Tapovan.
  • Nav Durga Temple: Located at the distance about 2kms from Deoghar, Nav Durga Temple is one of the holiest shrine of this region. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The major attraction of the temple is its beautiful paintings of Gurga Devi describing her nine forms.
  • Ramakrishna Mission Ashram: It is a branch of Ramakrishna Mission and one of the major cultural educational center of this region. The Ashram is managed by the monks of Ramakrishna Mission. Ramakrishna Mission Ashram is also a major tourist attraction, which houses a museum, a zoo and a temple of Shri Ram Krishna.
  • Shivaganga: Shivganga is another most popular tourist attraction of Deoghar. It is believed that this place was discovered by the Ravana, which was also known as Varvoghar Kund.
  • Kundeshwari: It is another holiest destination for Hindus, which is situated at around 1 km from Chandi Hill.  The temple complex houses 9 temples dedicated to the nine planets individually. It was founded by Late Ramapada Bandyopaddhay in 1911.
