Simdega is a city and a district located in the state of Jharkhand. The region has been historically part of Gajapati Kingdom of Kalinga for centuries which is the reason that Odiya is common in the region. Located at an elevation of 418 meters Simdega has a warm climate with hot summers and pleasant winters. Simdega is famous for its natural beauty and scenic view and offers many places for visitors some of them are Palkot Wildlife Santury, which is composed of Dry Deciduous Forests and is shelter to Leopard, Sloth Bear, Jackal, Monkey, Porcupine, Hare etc. Kelaghagh dam which is a scenic dam built on Chhinda river, Dangadi which is a famous picnic spot, Ketunga Dham which contains relics dating back to Ashokan period and Bandurga which is a temple dedicated to Goddess Durga.

  • Kelaghagh Dam: It is one of the most popular dam in Simdega, which is located at about 4km from the heart of the town. This dam is located on Chhinda River. It is one of the most alluring dam of this region, which is surrounded by various small hills and lush greenery, hence it attracts several tourists. One can enjoy the motor boating and parasailing here.
  • Bhairo Baba Pahari: Bhairo Baba Pahari is another most popular tourist attraction of Simdega. It is a cave located in Phulwatanger village of Simdega Block. The Cave personified as a living form.
  • Dangadi: Dangadi is another most beautiful tourist attraction of Simdega, which is known for its amazing scenic beauty.  The key attraction of this place is a beautiful waterfall. It is visit by the large number of tourists. This picturesque place is one of the most popular picnic sport for this region.
  • Ketunga Dham: It is one of the most prominent historical place of Simdega. According the historical records this place was associated with Buddha Period. Many the statue of Buddha were found here, which believed that these were built during Maurya Empire.
  • Rajadera: Rajadera is another major attraction of this region which is in Thethaitanger in Simdega. It is renowned for a splendid waterfall, lies on Chhinda River. It is one of the most popular picnic spot of Simdega.
  • Bandurga: Bandurga is one of the most important religious place of the region, located in Bolba Block in Simdega. This place is known for a holiest temple, which is located here. The temple is dedicated to Goddess of Shakti. This place is also known for an amazing picnic spot.
