Chandipur has emerged as one of the most important town in the state of Odisha. It is a destination that is lesser known by tourist. Chandipur is also known as Chandipur-on-sea located on the Bay of Bengal very close to Balasore.  It is a relaxing coastal town for every tourist. The serenity of the atmosphere attracts many tourist from different corners of India. Most tourist are attracted towards this beach due to its unique and interesting facts. In the recent past, it has been drawing attention of wildlife experts all over the world. Chandipur beach is a beach where the sea disappears suddenly in front of your eyes, that happens twice in a day. It is truly a captivating and fascinating beach that gives you a complete retreat. Tourist visiting this place can witness the Mangrove Horseshoe crab. It is one of the few beaches of the world where the ebb tides recede up to 5kms and tend to disappear rhythmically. For this reason, the beach is also known as ‘The Receding Beach’. Chandipur is also the location of the Indian Army's Integrated Test Range (ITR), at Abdul Kalam Island which was formerly known as Wheeler Island. Recently, the guided Pinaka rocket was successfully test-fired from launch complex-III of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) launch pad at Chandipur. The beach is also renowned for a black stone statue of Late APJ Abdul Kalam, who was the former president of India was revealed at Chandipur.
