Taptapani is a beautiful town that is situated near Gopalpur nestled in the clusters of green hills of the Eastern Ghats. This is an important tourist destination located at a distance of 240km from the city Bhubaneswar. The name Taptapani has been derived from two Sanskrit words, ‘Tapta’ means ‘hot’ and ‘Pani’ means ‘water’. Literally it means hot water. It is believed that people taking bath in this water get rid of all types of skin diseases due to the curative sulphur or medicinal properties content of the water. Taptapani is best known for both pilgrimage as well as tribal tourism. Devotees from all over India come here to visit this place. Another important attraction of Odisha is its tribal communities such as Kutia Kondh, Bonda, Dingara Kondh, and Mali.
