Located at an average elevation of 2217 meters above the sea level, Bomdila is one of the most beautiful city and the headquarters of West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh. The town is surrounded by snow-clad mountains of the Eastern Himalayan Range. This beautiful town as a lot to offer such as amazing nature, cool and quiet climate, Apple orchards, snow-capped mountains and Buddhist Monasteries. The Buddhist gompa is the repository of culture of the town.

Main Attractions
  • Sessa Orchid Sanctuary, Bomdila: Sessa Orchid Sanctuary has deep valleys, high hills as well as hills of lesser heights. Several rivers originate from these hills and the area thus looks picturesque with hills, valleys, rivers and waterfalls along with over 200 species of orchids. It also houses animals including red panda and pheasant.
  • Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary, Bomdila: It is closer to Sessa Orchid Sanctuary. The sanctuary offers spectacular views with waterfalls flowing from lesser heights and Kameng River flowing through the lush greenery. The sanctuary is home to various birds like eagle, hornbill, kingfishers, ducks and pheasants.
  • Dirang Valley, Bomdila: Is a stunningly picturesque valley that lies between Bomdila and Tawang. Dirang, the town situated in the valley has a pleasant weather that makes for a comfortable stay. The views from Dirang are mind blowing.
  • Bomdila Monastery, Bomdila: It is situated close to Tipi Orchid Research Center in West Kameng district. Followers of Mahayana Buddhism consider this place sacred. The monastery resembles Tsona Gontse Monastery of South Tibet.
  • Bomdila View Point, Bomdila: The highest point here offers breathtaking views of the landscape around including Nechipu Pass. West Kameng Valley spreads out in front of your eyes when viewed from here. Nature lovers love this Bomdila View Point.
  • Craft Center and Ethnographic Museum, Bomdila: Is precisely where you need to be if you want to experience the essence of the culture and lifestyle of Bomdila. The hand woven carpets, traditional masks and wall hangings are uniquely designed. Carpets with dragon designs are very famous here.

  • By Air- The nearest airport is at Tezpur that is located at about 160 kms from Bomdila. You can hire a taxi or board a bus from here to reach destination Bomdila.
  • By Railway – The nearest railway station is at Rangapara (Assam), which is located at about 146 kms from Bomdila. You can either hire a rented car or a taxi from here.
  • By Road – The town of Bomdila is well connected with Tezpur, Rangapara and Guwahati by state-run buses, jeeps and SUVs. A four-wheel drive like a jeep or SUV is the best way to travel from Tezpur, Rangapara or Guwahati.
