The last major township at the north-eastern of India, Roing is a district and headquarters of Lower Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh. The city is connected to Tinsukia, a major town of Assam, which is separated by the Brahmaputra River. This beautiful town is situated on the foothill of the Mishmi Hil. Roing offers breathtaking nature in the form of splendid landscape, amazing hills with lush green valleys, rich flora and fauna and gorgeous river. It is also renowned for vibrant tribes and various ancient archeological sites as well.

  • Mayudia, Roing: It is a hill resort situated at a distance of 56 kms from Roing. If you happen to be here in winter, you will be awe-struck by the sight of snowfall and the spectacular valley that set the right atmosphere for you to feel oneness with nature.
  • Mehao Lake, Roing: It is situated 14 kms away from Roing in Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary. Situated at an altitude of 3000 feet, Mehao Lake is a photographer’s delight. Set amidst dense green forest with beautiful flowers and plants, the 4 sq km water body sans fish attracts wild ducks in great numbers.
  • Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary, Roing: This Sanctuary has a wide range of herbs, shrubs, flowers and plants. It has some of the most beautiful natural lakes including Mehao Lake, which in itself is a favorite tourist destination.
  • Bhismaknagar Fort, Roing: It is situated 30 km from Roing. The fort has been named the oldest archaeological site found here. The fort has two gates, the Eastern Gate and the Western Gate. The wall that protects the fort is made of bricks, mud and stone and the fort’s north has natural protection in the form of hills.
  • Hunli, Roing: The place is famous for trekking and it is also frequented for the cave temple at Kupunli. You are sure to enjoy the drive from Roing to Hunli, located at 5000 feet altitude, as you are bound to see stunning landscapes that might make you miss a beat or two.
  • Nijomaghat, Roing: Is situated 15 km from Roing, Nijomaghat is a feast to your eyes with lush greenery, majestic mountains and the beautiful river making a perfect natural setting. While here, do not miss the ferry ride that connects Roing and Dambuk.

  • Rukmini Nati, Roing: It lays 12kms away from Roing, is considered to be a 14th century construction. The burnt brick ruins of this hill fort stand proof of the architectural brilliance of the past.
  • Sally Lake, Roing: It situated 3kms from Roing, this natural lake overlook the spectacular valley below and it is encompassed by dense green forest being situated in Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • Iphi-Pani Ghat, Roimg: Is situated around 10kms from Roing, the ghat offers breathtaking view of Dibang River and the valley. You can indulge yourself in fishing and angling or have a quiet session with nature listening to its whispers.

  • By Air – The big commercial and nearest airport to Roing is Mohanbari Airport, Dibrugarh (Assam) which is about 140 km away. From Dibrugarh tourists can hire a taxi/cab or a bus to reach Roing.
  • By Railway – The nearest railway station to Roing is Tinsukia in Assam which is about 100 km away. From the station, tourists can hire a taxi/cab or a bus to reach Roing.
  • By Road – Private and government buses are available from all cities of Arunachal and from Guwahati in Assam to reach Roing. There is direct Arunachal Pradesh State Transport (APST) bus service from Tinsukia to Roing.
