Jowai is a popular hill station in North-East India, located at West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. This place is a perfect mix of culture and heritage. Jowai witnessed many histories that are unmoved.  It is an important hub for both education and business. Like other cities of North-East, Jowai is also famous for its scenic beauty. Beside from natural beauty. Jowai is home to the Pnar tribe. Tourist who are interested to know about the unique culture of this tribe can get an opportunity to visit the tribal village while visiting Jowai. This place can be included in Tribal Circuit Tour in North-East India. Nartiang Monoliths, Syntu Ksiar, Thadlaskein Lake, Lalong Park and others are few tourist destination places in Jowai. To breath the clean mountain air Jowai is the perfect place to visit that consists of beautiful waterfalls, lakes and caves. October to mid of May is the best time to visit Jowai. 

Main Attractions
  • Syntu Ksair, Jowai: Syntu Ksair is one of the major tourist attraction that means the 'flower of gold’. It is also a memorial centre that has been set up here in honour of Kiang Rambagh (who was the freedom fighter). It is a common picnic spot for most of the locals and popular for angling and swimming.
  • Tryshi Falls, Jowai: Tourist visiting to this amazing waterfall can have a good experience surrounded by greenery and forest the place is amusing. One can take a dip in the blue water making it a perfect place for photography.
  • Jarain Pitcher Plant Lake, Jowai: It is another wonderful tourist attraction in Jowai. Jarain Pitcher Plant Lake would be a great experience for boat riding activities. It offers some of the most amazing scenic beauty to the tourist. It can be much better as tourist attraction.
  • Thadlaskein Lake, Jowai: This is a beautiful lake with anthropological importance as well, located 20km away from Jowai. The water here is clear where one can see the clear blue sky reflected in the lake. There is an interesting history beside this lake worshipped as sacred by the inhabitants of the Raid Mukhala tribe.
  • Stone Bridge at Thlumuwi: It is an interesting place because of a stone bridge. It was built by U Mar Phalyngki and U Luh Lyngskor Lamare under the order of the Jaintia King. The bridge was made of immense slabs of stone supported upon huge, tall stone pillars. Best time to visit is from September to May.
