Lunglei sometime called as Lungleh is the second populous district in Mizoram after Aizawl. It isfamousfor its scenic beauty and natural bounty situated in the southern part of the state of Mizoram. This town is also known as ‘A simpler paradise’. The name Lunglei has got its name from the actual bridge like rock found here. Literally it means 'the bridge of rock'.  Lunglei is responsible for ‘nature based’ tourism which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of local people. Lunglei offers birdwatching, photography, camping, hiking, fishing and so on. As Lunglei is close to Aizawl, it has witnessed historical experience. This ‘nature based’ tourism is emerging as one of the fastest growing elements in tourism industry. Lunglei is famous for its several picnic spots along rivers and riverine.There is an interesting fact about the Buddhist relic found, located few kilometers away and it has become a matter of burning topic as there is no evidence how it came here. Apart from rich flora and fauna, Lunglei has many hideaways for nature lovers which makes Lunglei tourism more interesting and attracts many tourists from all over India.

  • Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary, Mizoram: It is one of the popular tourist destinations in Lunglei. This park is nested in lush green hills located 160 km from Aizawl, the capical city of Mizoram. Famous for it’s except exceptional natural beauty; abundant greener and wildlife that includes the barking deer, leopard, and rhesus monkey and also sees a large variety of birds. It attracts lot of tourist’s people from different part of Mizoram state.
  • Saza Wildlife Sanctuary, Lunglei: Saza Wildlife Sanctuary is another gem to visit in Lunglei district and one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in the state of Mizoram. It is spread in about 15 sq.km of area. It is the home of various wildlife animals like leopard, deer, rhesus and a few rare varieties of birds. Best time to visit this sanctuary is throughout the year because of its calm and peaceful environments.
  • Saikuti Hall, Lunglei: It is a place where tourist can witness the culture and tradition of Mizo people. Some historical items are displayed here. As people are skilled with Basketry, there are lots of small items that are made out of bamboos and cane.
