Wokha is a picturesque town that is well-known as “The Land of The Lothas”. Lothas are the main tribal groups who reside here and considered to be one of the largest tribes in Nagaland. The name Wokha has been derived from the Lotha language which mean ‘Census’. This tourist destination still needs coverage which remained isolated from the outer world. It is a town surrounded by several hills and ridges which makes it scenic that allures every tourist and visitors. To enter this part of Nagaland Indian citizens are required to obtain an Inner Line Permit. Mount Tiyi that stands at 1969.91 meters above sea level and well-known for its fabulous lushness is the key environmental and cultural feature for Wokha tourism. It is the highest peak in Wokha district. This mountain is also called as “Mountain of Life” for being the major source of spring water for the whole town. It is believed that there is a concealed orchard which are found by the most fortunate souls but it has changed almost immeasurably over time.  It was considered as the passage to the abode of the deaths. Watching the sunset atop this peak is a must as the experience is unmatched. Apart from this there are other local sightseeing too.  Best for adventurous activities such as trekking and rock climbing.

  • Mount Tiyi, Wokha: Mount Tiyi is one of the most important tourist destination of Wokha. It is the highest peak in Wokha district. It is one of the highest peak in the district of Wokha. This mountain is also called as “Mountain of Life” for being the major source of spring water for the whole town. It was considered as the passage to the abode of the deaths. Watching the sunset atop this peak is a must as the experience is unmatched.
  • Totsu Cliff, Wokha: It offers a splendid view of the valley below and a must visiting place while visiting to Wokha. It is located 25km away from the town. This cliff is believed to be guarded by a giant snake and a crab. One of these lakes is believed to be the home of a Naga legendary mortal called Nsantbung who is believed to have married the lady spirit of the lake. Some of the tribal groups such as the Lothas, the Semas and the Aos and is a repository of their ancestors.
  • Doyang River, Wokha: It is a popular destination with the tourists visiting Wokha. The Doyang Hydro Project has become one of the biggest tourist attractions for the locals. It is also famous for some of the breath-taking views making it one of the most scenic tour in Wokha. It is located 38 kilometers from the town of Wokha. To see the glimpse of the diverse flora and fauna, tourist can trek to the reservoir from the hill top through some dense forest cover.
