Thekkady is an important tourist attraction located in the Idukki district of Kerala bordered Kerala-Tamil Nadu border lies on the northern bank of the Periyar River. It is a prime and picturesque tourist destination in India close to the spice plantations and surrounded by the Cardamom Hills. This hillock is best and provides you an excellent opportunity for trekking.  It is said that the area was inhabited by the Paleolithic age but there is no proper evidence about its past history. But some Stone-age dolmens, Menhir and tombs were discovered in the valleys of the area that takes you to the stone-age civilization. The history of Thekkady and Periyar dates back to 134. The Periyar National Park, Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger Reserve were established in 1934. Thekkady.  Thekkady is a mixture of the wild life and in 1978, Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary was declared as tiger reserve. It offers diverse attractions like wildlife sanctuaries, hill stations, dams, spices plantation tours, mountain treks, and elephant ride etc. Thekkady is famous for reputed and finest wildlife sanctuary named Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The trumpet of the elephant creates one of the most fascinating experiences for any nature lover. It also presents a dazzling view of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. To explore and to get more glimpses of the phenomenal varieties one must visit the tranquil beauty of Thekkady.

  • Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary: Thekkady, is an example of nature’s bounty with great scenic charm. Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (PNP) is a protected area in the districts of Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta in Kerala, India. It is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuary in South India. There is an artificial lake created by the British in 1895. Best place for photography and other jungle activities. 
  • Kadathanadan Kalari Centre: It is renowned for Kalaripayattu, the martial arts of Kerela, where you can get a firsthand experience of the popular art. Kalari is popular in the world of martial arts. In Kadathanadan center visitors can watch this art form through a specially designed gallery. This is an important place where one can well designed for self-defence.
  • Mangala Devi Temple: Mangala Devi Temple is 1000 years old ancient temple that is dedicated to the deity of Mangaladevi, who is also known as Kannaki. This temple is also called as Mangaladevi Temple. Kannaki’s tale has been immortalized by the poet-prince Ilanko Adikal in the Tamil epic, Silapathikaram. Silapathikaram is one of the five epics of ancient Tamil Literature.
