Tiruvalla is a popular city in the state of Kerala. It is spelled as Thiruvalla. The ancient name of Thiruvalla was "Valla vai" that relates to the river Manimala which was known as "Vallapuzha". It is the biggest commercial centre that nestled on the banks of river Manimala. It is the largest town located in the district of Pathanamthitta, Kerala. Formerly this city was also called as "Tiruvalla East".  Tiruvalla is also known as "Land of nonresident Indians" or NRI’s. Culturally rich town and became a municipality in the year 1919 AD. The name Thiruvalla is named after the deity Thiru Vallabhan or LordVishnu.  As the place consists of numerous temples, the city is also known as the “Temple Town”. The city conceived an ancient history founded in 800AD where there is plenty of evidence that the area was inhabited since 500 BC. Thiruvalla Temple which is also known as Shri Vallabha Maha Kshetram is the popular tourist pilgrimage site in the city of Tiruvalla. The cultural city Thiruvalla has many stories and legends. A history takes back to 52 A D when Christianity was first introduced in the state of Kerala. This place was known as Sri Vallabhapuram and later changed to Thiruvallabhapuram and now it is named as Thiruvalla. It is a cultural getaway with numerous churches, temples and there are a few well-known mosques. Thiruvalla is the place for the great lover of Mythology that gives a glimpse of old world charm and natural beauty.

  • Sri Vallaba Temple.Tiruvalla: Sri Vallaba Temple is located at a distance of just 3 Kms from Thiruvalla.  It is one of the popular temples of Thiruvalla and a beautiful place among the 108 Vaishnava Thirupathi's in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the main deity of the temple. Kathakali dance is performed in the temple on daily basis.
  • The Malankara Marthoma Syrian Church,Tiruvalla: The Malankara Marthoma Syrian Church is one of the oldest groups of practicing Christians in the world. The history was divided into three main eras: Pre-Reformation, Reformation, Post Reformation. It has been founded by Saint Thomas (Mar Thoma) who was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ, arrived in the south west coast of India somewhere around 52 A.D.
  • Paliakkara Church.Tiruvalla: The Paliakkara Church is an ancient church of Tiruvalla, which is now the great asylum of all native people regardless of caste & religion as you can see. This church was founded in 1815 and a famous place of worship in Thiruvalla.   • Kaviyoor Mahadeva Temple.Tiruvalla:  Kaviyoor Mahadeva Temple is one of the ancient Mahadev (Lord Shiva) temples of Kerala. This temple was built in the 10th century which is identified for its exclusive gable architectural style. The main deity is Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati. The architectural styles represent the early stages of Kerala temple architecture.
