Vagamon is a scenic hill station situated at the fringe of the Western Ghats. It is located in the Kottayam-Idukki border of Kottayam district of Kerala. Vagamon is also called as Wagamon. It is also known as ‘Scotland of Asia’ and one of the best paragliding sites in Asia.  It is about 1200 meters above sea level comprised of beautiful hillocks, valleys and cascading waterfalls. As per history, Vagamon was discovered by the British and found the place ideal for tea plantation. Vagamon has been listed as the "50 most attractive places to visit in India" by National Geographic Traveler. It is also home to a several flowers and wild orchids. This beautiful tourist destination is far away from crowded city. Vagamon is cuddled up within three arresting hills Thangal, Murugan and Kurisumala hills, best recognized for eco-tourism. Along with nature-based and eco-tourism, Adventure tourism is emerging as an unusual, exotic, remote, or wilderness destination. Tourist will love to enjoy some activities such as trekking, paragliding, rafting and others while visiting such an exotic destination. The sleepy town with its enchanting pine forests, mists, fogs, tea estates, is outstanding and attractive towards every tourist. Main Attractions
  • Vagamon Lake, Vagamon: The Vagamon Lake is a striking place amidst three hills and lush green surroundings. Boating facilities are available in the lake and the topography is really mesmerizing. There is a lot of space to sit near the lake and good for photography. It is a tranquil lake with green surroundings ideal for relaxing.
  • Kurisumala, Vagamon: Kurisumala is famous for the Kurisumala Monastery (also known as Kurisumala Ashram) and Vagamon Kurisumala. These two are top Christian pilgrim centers and hot tourist destinations in Kerala. It is one of the most popular tourist spots in Vagamon. Vagamon Kurisumala Ashram is considered as one of the best pilgrim centers in Kerala where the Christian devotees can lead a meditative and reflexive life.
  • Thangal Hill, Vagamon: This hill is an important religious site famous for the burial chamber of Sufi saint, Sheikh Fariduddin. It is a rocky landscape accessible only by foot adjacent to Vagamon. Thangal Para is a Muslim sacred site. There is an ancient cave located in Thangal Para. It offers some amazing views as it is surrounded by lush grasslands, thick forests and meadows.
  • Murugan Hill, Vagamon: Murugan Hills is on the eastern side of Vagamon Kurisumala. This is a pilgrimage destination for Hindus. It is also reached by foot. Temple of Lord Murugan is situated in the top of Murugan Mala dedicated to Lord Muruga. Vagamon Kurisumala is visible from Murugan Hills.
