Barog is a small hill station lying in the Solan district of Himanchal Pradesh. The hill station was named after British Engineer Colonel Barog who was commissioned to build a railway track here back in 1903, which ended in a failure. Barog is located at a height of about 1600 meters and is about 70 km away from Shimla. Winter season starts from November to March and summers stay from April to July in the region. The temperature varies from 23 and 10 °C during summers and between 15 and 5 °C during winters. Some famous places to visit in Barog are Dolanji Bon Monastery, Grave of Barog which an incomplete tunnel for railways is essentially designed by Colonel Barog and Choor Chandni Peak.
