Hamirpur is a town located in Himanchal Pradesh. Popularly known as Veer Bhumi due to its service to Indian Army due to contribution of its resident who predominantly choose Army as their profession. The region was once under Katoch dynasty and it was not until 1972 that Hamirpur was once part of Kangra District. Located at an elevation of 785 meters summers are hot here while winters are cold but pleasant. Some famous places in Hamirpur are Kotkahlur Fort which was built by built by Raja Bir Chand, Bachhretu Fort which is on western slope of Kotdhar, Gobind Sagar Lake which is an artificial lake formed by Bhakra dam and Naina Devi Temple, which is considered as one of the Saktipeeths.

Main Attractions
  • Kotkahlur Fort: Kotkahlur Fort is one of the major attraction of Hamirpur, which is situated near Ganguwal hydroelectric station. The fort is located on the foothill of Naina Devi. The Fort was established by Raja Bir Chand, an ancestor of Raja Kahal Chand.  The Fort is an important historical monument of the region which is surrounded by lush green forest.
  • Tauni Devi Temple Hamirpur: Tauni Devi Temple is one of the holiest shrine of Hamirpur, which is dated back to 200 years old.  The temple is dedicated to Goddess Tauni, which conceded to be the sister of Hindu Goddess Durga. A large annual fair held during the month of Ashran (June-July).
  • Deotsidh Temple: Deotsidh Temple is located on the border of Hamirpur and Bilaspur. It is one of the most popular cave temple of Hamirpur. The temple is dedicated to Baba Balaknath, a spiritual reformer during the time of Shakti movement and believed that he was meditated at this cave.
