Khajjiar is a small hill station located in Chamba district of Himanchal Pradesh. Often known as Mini Switzerland due to its topographic resemblance with the European Country, Khajjiar offers a mystique area surrounded by meadows and forests. Once an untouched destination Khajjiar has now become very popular among tourists both in India and globally. The hill station is located at an elevation of 1920 meters and is well connected to Dalhousie. Khajjiar is surrounded by thick pine forest and offers brilliant options for trekking. Khajjir is most famous for Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary, which is spread over about 31 km2. The Ravi River flows through the sanctuary and it is home to Pheasants, serow and black bears. Some other famous places in Khajjiar are Khajjiar Lake, Dauladhar Mountains and Khajjinag temple.

  • Khajji Nag Temple: Khajji Nag Temple is the major attraction of Khajjiar and the holiest temple of Himachal Pradesh. The Temple is located near Khajjiar Lake, which is dated back to 12th century AD. The temple is devoted to Khajji Nag, who is known as the Lord of the Serpents.
  • Golden Devi Temple: It is one of the major temple of Khajjiar, situated on the banks of Khajjiar Lake. It is named as to the golden dome of the temple. It dates back to the 12th century AD shrine dedicated to lord Naga.
  • Kailash View: You may get the glimpse of mount Kailash from Khajjiar ground during the clear day. It is one of the major attraction of the town.
  • Khajjiar Lake and Ground: It is the prime attraction of Khajjiar. One can reach here via the Bakrota Hills from Dalhousie. Khajjiar Ground is the popular for picnic and photography.  Khajjiar Lake is one of the holiest lake of the town due to the association with the idol of the Khajji Nag Temple. It is a small lake, surrounded by saucer shaped lush green meadow and a floating island.
  • Panch Pandav Tree: Located at the Khajjiar ground which is known for its shoots. It is said to be that the five shoots of this tree stand for the five Pandavas and the last one symbolizes Draupadi, the wife of Pandava.
  • Khajjiar Villages: There are various small villages are situated near the Khajjiar ground are the other attraction of this town. These villages are popular for apple orchids. Here you can enjoy the spectacular surroundings.

  • By Air- The nearest airport is the Gaggal Airport  in Dharmshala, which is a distance of  108km away from Khajjiar. It is well connected by Delhi and other major cities in India.
  • By Train- The nearest major railway Station is Pathankot, which is located at the distance of about 104kms from Khajjiar. The Pathankot railway station is well connected with all major cities of India.  
  • By Road-  Khajjiar has good road network which is connected with all major cities of India. The town is located just one and a half hours driving from Dalhousie and Chamba. Khajjar is well connected with the major cities in and around the state by the buses operated by Himachal Road Transport Corporation.
