Agha Khan Palace which was built in the year 1892 by Sultan Mohammad shah Aga khan, to help those people of Maharashtra who are affected by famine, is situated on the Nagar Road, which is around 2 km from the Bund garden, and is one of the most important tourist destinations of Pune. This beautiful palace took 5 years to complete and is spread across an area of 1756 sq. meters. It has mainly the memorials of Mahatma Gandhi’s wife, Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. Both of them died in this palace only hence their memorials are kept here which are designed by Charles Correa. This whole place including the museums and memorials are taken care by Gandhi Memorial Society. One can buy pure Khadi and cotton garments and handmade textiles from Aga Khan Palace complex
