The Ahom Raja’s Palace also known as Garhgaon palace dates back to 250 years and as per the historians the 15th Ahom king, Suklengmung established the capital at Garhgoan and after built a four-storied royal palace with some of the impermanent materials like wood and stones in the year 1540 CE and around 12,000 workers completed the construction of the palace within a year. And after some time, a brick wall and masonry gateway were built in the capital complex by King Pramatta Singha in 1752 CE. It has a doom like roof on the top floor along with a chamber. Also, there were four watch towers in the monument. However, only two of them are visible now. One of the most important features of the monument is that eggs and rice were used to make the mortar for the construction rather than any kind of cement.
