About Pandulena Caves

Pandavlena Caves, a group of 24 Buddhist caves belonging to Hinayana Buddhist architecture where mainly the monks lived and meditated were and other became Buddhist monasteries for preaching, were built during the 1st Century BC to 4th Century CE period and the located in Nashik in Maharashtra. The caves are among the most important in western India, particularly interesting on account of the large rare inscriptions of considerable historical interest found here. Nowadays people visit for a picturesque view of the entire city from here amidst lush greenery.
