Later Zulfikar Khan captured it in 1689 and Aurangzeb renamed it as Islamgad. Then Siddi Fathekan ruled here till 1733. It used to serve as the capital of Maratha Kingdom and The British named it as the Gibraltar of the East as it had stopped various attackers.
