Sultan Ghari’s Tomb was built by Iltutmish for his eldest and beloved son Nasiru’d-Din Mahmud also known as Sultan Ghari in 1231 in his memory after his death in 1229 in Delhi and is the first tomb built for a Muslim ruler in India. One can see this tomb at Malakpur Kohli village on the Mehrauli-Palam Road and the golden tinge of the tomb’s structure attracts a large number of tourists. This great architecture of Sultan Ghari’s Tomb was turning into ruins untill the Delhi Development Authority took up the project of restoration of Sultan Ghari’s Tomb in 2003.
