Hajipur is one of the most popular city and headquarters of Vaishali district in Bihar. It is located at the 20 kms from Patna, the capital of the state. It is bounded by Narayani Gandak River in the west and holy Ganges in the south. It is renowned for its rich history which is dated back to 600 BC, which was associated with Lord Budha, he preached the Cula Gopalaka Sutta (a Middle Length Discourse) here, and hence it is known as one of the holiest Buddhist circuit across the world. Hajipur is also known as the birth place of Lord Mahavira. It is the present headquarters of East-Central Railway.

  • Kaun Haara Ghat, Hajipur: The Ghat enjoys the status of being one of the key ghats of Ganga-Gandak Rivers, where many Hindu rituals and cremation rites have been performed for centuries. The name of the ghat can be accorded to an ancient legend that illustrates a fight which took place between Gaja (elephant) and Graah (crocodile) in which Lord Vishnu had to interfere to save the life of Gajraj, his devotee.
  • Mahatma Gandhi Setu, Hajipur: It is one of the longest setu in the World, and was inaugurated in May’ 1982. The bridge has been built over River Ganga and connects Patna with Hajipur in Bihar. It is a striking example of architectural vision and spotless execution.
  • Nepali Mandir, Hajipur: It is in the west region of Hajipur and is an exclusive Shaivite shrine. The credit of building this splendid temple goes to Mathbar Singh Thapa, one of the commanders of Nepal during the medieval period.
  • Pataleshwar Mandir, Hajipur: The temple is one of the amazing wonders in the city of Hajipur, and is dedicated to the Lord of Gods, Lord Shiva. The temple exists since the ancient period, it is located at Jadhua Road.
  • Sonepur Fair, Hajipur: Sonepur is located around 6kms away from Hajipur. Here a festival called Kartik Diwas is celebrated on full moon days of October-November. It’s a fortnight long cattle which takes place annually. The Sonepur fair is hugely famed and one of the largest cattle fair in Asia.
  • Ramchaura Mandir, Hajipur: This temple is a landmark destination of Hajipur. It is dedicated to lord Rama which marks his visit to Hajipur on his way to Janakpur. The place witness’s colossal celebrations during the festival of Rama Navami, and is accompanied by a fair.
  • Bateshwar Nath Temple, Hajipur: The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the oldest temple in Bihar. Situated in the east direction of Hajipur. The temple is believed to have come into sight from the middle of a thousand year old banyan tree and many believed that the temple is self-constructed.
  • Shree Maha Prabhuji’s Baithakji at Helabazar, Hajipur: The temple was built during the region of Maha Prabhuji. In India there are total 84 Maha Prabhuji Baithak’s. Many Vaishnav’s from all over the World combat the tough terrains and other challenges to attend the Baithak’s.
