About Leh Palace

The Leh Palace, is in the town of Leh in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and is also known as 'Lhachen Palkhar' built by the 17th century by King Sengge Namgyal as a royal palace for the King and his family. It is a nine storey building and is no doubt one of the tallest buildings of Leh which gives a panoramic view of the entire city of Leh as well as of the Stok Kangri and Zanskar mountains of the mighty Himalayan ranges, thereby giving the palace a strategic position with a historical importance as well. Sunrises and sunsets are extraordinarily beautiful and captivating scenes when viewed from the top of this palace, and the stunning beauty of this palace attracts tourists from all over the world to have a look at its aesthetic beauty. It becomes more beautiful during the celebration of local festivals such as Galdam Namchot festival when locals gather around the palace and it is lighted up to celebrate the local festival.
