Northeast India isn’t just about rich cultural, natural and religious heritage. The region’s strategic location has blessed it with beautiful and exotic lakes and wildlife. On our specially curated trip one will not only visit the iconic heritage sites of temples but also relax and rejuvenate by the lovely lakes, UNESCO World Heritage Site Majuli Island, extraordinary local markets and gushing waterfalls. Get to know more about the simple lifestyle of the locals and tribals. The duration of this trip is 19 nights and 20 days.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Imphal (By flight/road)

Arrive at Imphal Airport/joining point, and transfer to your pre booked hotel. After checking in, relax. In the evening, head out for exploring local markets including Ema Keithel- the marketplace run only by women. You will be able to interact with the ladies and know about their culture and pick some souvenirs and other local specialities. Rest of the day is at leisure. 
 
Overnight stay in Imphal. 
 

Day 2 Imphal – Loktak Lake – Imphal

This morning after breakfast, we will proceed to visit Loktak Lake- the largest freshwater lake in South Asia. You will also visit Loktak Folklore Museum and INA (Indian National Army) memorial and Museum. Return back to your accommodation after a thrilling day for a restful night.  

Overnight stay in Imphal. 

Day 3 Imphal – Andro village – Imphal

Wake up early this morning for a visit to Shree Govindajee temple, a historic Vaishnavite centre. Return to have breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast go for a day trip to Andro Cultural Village. Visit the Cultural Heritage Complex and in the evening explore Kangla fort.
 
Overnight stay in Imphal. 
 

Day 4 Imphal – Kohima

Enjoy a hot, scrumptious breakfast before heading off to Kohima. On arrival, check in and spend the free time as you may like.

In the evening visit the local market and overnight stay in Kohima.

Day 5 Kohima – Khonoma Village – Kohima

After breakfast, drive to Khonoma village. Khonoma is a place renowned for its valour and courage. The Khonoma gate tells the story of British infiltration into Naga Hills.
 
Return to Kohima and visit the state Museum.
 
In the evening, visit the famous war cemetery- a symbolic memorial raised as a citation for the supreme sacrifice made by the officers and men of the Allied forces during World War II. Later, explore the local market and emporium. 
 
Return back to the hotel & overnight stay.
 

Day 6 Kohima – Mokokchung

Today we will be going to Mokokchung in the north-central Nagaland after breakfast. En route visit Touphema tourist village. On reaching Mokokchung we will check into a hotel.
If time permits, visit Ungma village, the oldest village in Mokokchung.
 
Overnight at the hotel.
 

Day 7 Mokokchung – Mon

After breakfast drive to Mon in Nagaland. This drive will be through lush green valleys of the tea estates of Assam. This district is inhabited by the Konyak Tribes. En route visit Mopungchuket village who are known for their skill in making wood carving. Check into a hotel on arrival in Mon. 
  • Konyak Tribe is regarded as the most backward of the sixteen Naga tribes. This on the other hand can also be perceived as the most traditional of the tribes. They have given up their hunting ways, but still live a very traditional lifestyle. Konyak are adept artisan and skilled craftsman; here you can find excellent woodcarving, doas (machete) guns, gunpowder, head brushes, necklace etc.

Day 8 Mon – Longwa Village – Mon

Morning after breakfast, we will drive to Longwa village on the border ridge between India and Myanmar. The Angh (king) of Longwa commands about 50 villages from both sides. Return to Mon and visit the local market.

Day 9 Mon – Sibsagar – Jorhat

Today after breakfast, you will start the journey to Jorhat. On the way visit the ruins of Ahom dynasty who ruled over Assam for six hundred years. Drive on to Jorhat, upon arrival check into the hotel. Rest daytime free for leisure.
 
Overnight stay in Jorhat.
 

Day 10 Jorhat – Majuli

This morning after breakfast, you will drive to the eastern side of Majuli to visit Satras and interact with the monks. Later drive further east to visit mask making and pottery village. Packed lunch will be served today. Return to Mishing village and enjoy a walking tour to interact with the locals.
 
Stay at a hotel.
 

Day 11 Majuli – Bhalukpong (Approx. 1.5 hours ferry and 5 hours drive)

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Bhalukpong. Check in at the hotel and the rest of the day is free for leisure.
 
Overnight at the hotel. 
 

Day 12 Bhalukpong – Dirang (Approx. 05 hours drive)

Morning after breakfast, drive to Dirang located at the height of 4910 feet. Enroute visit the Tipi Orchid Centre. After arrival and checking in, visit Kalchakra Gompa and LDL Monastery.
 
Overnight at the hotel.
 

Day 13 Dirang – Tawang

After breakfast, drive to Tawang. You will gain a height of 10,000 feet. En route witness the unique Dirang Valley famous for its monasteries, hot Springs, Apple & kiwi Orchards, sheep breeding farms & charming valleys. Also witness the snow capped Sella Pass at 13700 ft, the Jaswant Garh War Memorial and Jung Falls. 
 
On arrival, check in and stay at the hotel.
 

Day 14 Tawang

This morning after breakfast, enjoy the visit to Tawang Monastery, Urgelling Monastery, Ani Gompa and Pankang Teng Tso Lake.
Later, visit the War Memorial commemorating the bravery of the Indian heroes of the Indo-China war of 1962. Witness the light & sound show in the evening. 
 
Overnight at hotel.
 

Day 15 Tawang – Bomdila

After breakfast, drive to Bomdila at an altitude of 8000 feet. On our way to the town we will be visiting the Upper Gompa, go to a nearby school run by the monastery and before taking the highway to Bomdila, we will access a vantage point from where, on a clear day, one can see the towering peaks of the eastern Himalayas including Gorichen the Peak. On arrival check into the hotel.
 
Late afternoon visit the local market. 
 
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
 

Day 16 Bomdila – Guwahati

This morning after breakfast, drive to Guwahati. On arrival check into the hotel.
Rest of the day is free for leisure. 
 
Overnight at the hotel.
 

Day 17 Guwahati

Full day tour is planned after breakfast. You will visit Kamakhya Temple, Balaji Temple, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra and Umananda Temple. Also explore the local market.
 
Overnight stay in Guwahati.
 

Day 18 Guwahati – Cherrapunji – Shillong

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Cherrapunji. At Cherrapunji visit Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sister Falls and Mawsmai Cave. Later, drive to Shillong. Enroute visit Elephant Falls.
 
On arrival, check in and unwind.

Day 19 Shillong

Explore the city of Shillong post breakfast. You will visit Mawlynnong, Laitlum Canyon and Don Bosco Museum.
Enjoy the evening as you explore the local market.

Day 20 Departure Day

Leave for the airport after breakfast. Your wonderful tour of the Northeast ends with the rop off at the airport.
